Submission Guidelines
tl;dr
Stories and poems, 100 words or less, favoring the trashy/sassy. No payment, no reprints, no simultaneous subs. Submit to detritusonline@gmail.com
this is what we want
Stories and poems that are:
No restrictions on content; we will let you know if we think you’ve Gone Too Far.
No reprints (we define a reprint as anything previously published anywhere, including social media). No simultaneous submissions (we will get back to you promptly).
Length: 100 words or less.
Due to technical limitations and laziness, we will probably not be able to accommodate pieces that are illustrated and/or require unusual formatting or layout (although we wish we could—maybe someday!)
We can’t pay you, alas.
how/where to submit
Please submit only one (1) story or poem at a time.
Please include a 3rd person bio you’d like featured in the issue if we do accept your work.
Submit your work to detritusonline@gmail.com
Please place the word “SUBMISSION” in the subject line.
Please include your story/poem in the body of the email (no attachments) and please include the name you’d like to be published under if your work is accepted.
We would love to hear a little about you, but no cover/intro letter required.
Our pet peeve is long response times, so our goal is to get back to you within 1 week (7 days) of receiving your submission. Feel free to inquire after 2 weeks if you haven’t heard anything.

We’re asking for first electronic publication rights. After publication, rights revert back to the authors.
